Combo System

The combo system heats all rooms and provides hot water to combine your comfort needs. It is called a combo because the water heater is combined with a fan coil unit that heats the air. This installation will save energy, and space, if you opt for the tankless water heater.

Savings

Savings will vary according to the type of water heater you choose.

Standard tankless hot-water heater:

A tankless hot-water heater combo system provides an overall efficiency of 82% as compared to an efficiency of about 71% for a standard storage water heater combo.  Energy savings of 13% or more can be achieved with this type of system. Savings can add up to 225 cubic meters of natural gas annually. Over a period of 10 years, this combo system will save more than $1,462.

Condensing water heater:

A condensing water heater combo system offers superior efficiency. This type of system provides an overall efficiency of 92% as compared to 71% efficiency for a standard-storage water heater. Energy savings of more than 22% can be achieved with this type of system. Savings can therefore add up to more than 386 cubic meters of natural gas annually. Over a period of 10 years, this system will save more than $2,500. Save energy and money!

Financial Assistance

The financial assistance awarded for the purchase and installation of a combo-system water heater varies according to the type of unit chosen. Therefore, water heaters generating more savings are awarded greater financial assistance.

Type of water heater Financial Assistance
Standard tankless water heater        $250
Condensing water heater $550

Program Requirements

Gaz Métro will pay an incentive of $550 per unit for the acquisition of a condensing water heater and $250 per unit for a standard tankless water heater that meets the program requirements.

The incentive offered by Gaz Métro applies to condensing water heaters and tankless water heaters with a capacity of 150,000 Btu/h or 175,000 Btu/h depending on the energy factor. The installed unit must be used to heat both water and air (combo system installation) whether with a low or high velocity ventilation unit. This technology is suitable for the condominium and row house markets which have a maximum interior area of 1,500 square feet. This type of equipment should not be used as a boiler for a hot water heating system.

In order to take advantage of the financial assistance, you must sign a contract with Gaz Métro.  It is advisable to have your equipment installed by a Gaz Métro-certified Partner.

This program applies exclusively to Gaz Métro's residential customers for single family homes (including detached homes, townhouses, row houses, duplexes and triplexes, or buildings with four apartments or more, if each lodging has its own meter).
