The blue invites you to pave the way for a green future
Montreal, Tuesday, April 27 2010 - It is with great pride that for the third year in a row, Gaz Métro is renewing its cooperation with the Montreal Fair of the Bicycle as an associate sponsor. For the 2010 edition, Gaz Métro will take advantage of the opportunity to promote the salvage and the promotion of the bicycle as an alternative means of transportation to the automobile.
Gaz Métro will roll in tandem with SOS Vélo for salvaging bicycles. SOS Vélo is a non-profit organization whose mission is the social and professional integration of young adults in difficulty. During the months of May and June 2010, Gaz Métro invites the population to turn in their old bicycles to this organization, which offers a home pickup service, and thereby take a chance on winning a getaway bicycle tour worth $1000 (www.gazmetro.com/velo). It will also be possible to bring bicycles for recycling to La Fontaine Park (rue Rachel, angle De Brébeuf) at the time of the Bike-Work Operation on Wednesday, June 2.
“Our partnership with the Fair of the Bicycle is part of our contribution to sustainable development at Gaz Métro. In addition to promoting the bicycle as an alternative means of transportation to the car, salvaging bicycles will help young adults reintegrate into social and professional life,” emphasized Guylaine Lehoux, vice-president, Growth at Gaz Métro.
Customer service is equally at the heart of Gaz Métro’s priorities, there are Blue Houses at the Metropolitan Challenge, at the Tour la Nuit and at the Tour de l’Ile de Montréal. For the occasion these blue houses turn into information kiosks for the Fair of the Bicycle, and at the end of the route the cyclists can get a blue energy drink!
On a daily basis Gaz Métro and the bicycle make a good team. The Gaz Métro Bicycle Club has a mission of encouraging the use of the bicycle as a means of transportation to get to work. The company offers its employees self-service bicycles, a bicycle rack with around fifty places. For Gaz Métro, all these actions are good opportunities to demonstrate its commitment to the organization and thus contribute to building a better life.
