President and Chief Executive Officer

Sophie Brochu

Ms. Brochu has been active in the energy industry for 30 years. Graduate in economics from Université Laval, she began her career in 1987 at SOQUIP (Société québécoise d’initiatives pétrolières). In 1997, she joined Gaz Métro, as Vice President, Business Development. After holding various positions in the company, she became President and Chief Executive Officer of Gaz Métro, position she is holding since 2007. Ms. Brochu sits on the Board of Directors of Bank of Montreal, Bell Canada and BCE Inc. Involved with Centraide of Greater Montreal, Ms. Brochu is the Chair of Forces Avenir which promotes students involvement in their communities. She is cofounder of “ruelle de l’avenir”, a project aimed at encouraging students in the Centre-Sud and Hochelaga neighbourhoods of Montréal to remain in school. Finally, she sits on the Board of Directors of La Fondation Lucie et André Chagnon. Ms. Brochu is a member of the Order of Canada.

Vice President, Strategy, Communication and Sustainability

Stéphanie Trudeau

Ms. Stéphanie Trudeau is Vice President, Strategy, Communication and Sustainability at Gaz Métro. When she was appointed Vice President in October 2012, she was given responsibility for Sustainable Development and Public and Governmental Affairs. Marketing and Innovation and Customer Services were added to her responsibilities in the spring of 2013. A communications expert and seasoned strategist, she is as comfortable with strategic and political matters as she is with crisis management or risk communication. Until September 2012, Ms. Trudeau was a Vice President and Partner at Tact Intelligence-conseil. Before that, she was Vice President, Public Affairs on the Quebec team of Labatt Brewing Company Ltd.; Director, Public Affairs at the Société des alcools du Québec (SAQ); Director, Community Relations, for the Rabaska project; and Senior Advisor, Public Affairs, at Gaz Métro. Ms. Trudeau chairs the board of the Office Québec Monde pour la jeunesse and sits on the boards of the Conseil patronal de l'environnement du Québec (CPEQ), the Fédération des chambres de commerce du Québec (FCCQ), and Ruelle de l’Avenir. She is president of the FCCQ’s comité énergie and a member of its executive committee, a member of the Climate Change Advisory Committee and of the Conseil des parrains of the Jeune Chambre de commerce de Montréal (JCCM).

Executive Vice President, Corporate Affairs and Chief Financial Officer

Pierre Despars

Pierre Despars has been responsible for the company’s financial, corporate and legal activities since February 2010. He is also responsible for development activities in our gas and electric distribution subsidiaries in the United States as well as general contractors’ relations. Mr. Despars began his career in 1985 as an auditor at KPMG. In 1989, he joined Québecor Printing, where he was Controller and Accounting Director. In 1991, he joined Gaz Métro, where he has held various positions in Accounting, Finance and Regulatory Affairs. As an executive officer, Mr. Despars sits on the Board of Directors, Audit Committee and Pension Fund Committee. He also sits on the boards of some of Gaz Métro’s subsidiaries. Mr. Despars holds a governance certificate from the Directors College; he graduated in accounting from HEC Montréal and holds an MBA from Concordia University. He is a member and Fellow of the Ordre des comptables professionnels agréés du Québec. He is a laureate of the "As de la Finance 2014" award, in the category "Financial Officer of a Major Company", awarded by FEI – Quebec Chapter, on which he also sits on the Board of Directors.

Vice President, Development and Renewable Energies

Martin Imbleau

Mr. Imbleau has been Vice President, Development and Renewable Energies since July 2013. He is responsible for identifying and managing strategic business opportunities, as well as renewable energies. He is also notably responsible for the company’s strategic planning. Mr. Imbleau began his career at Gaz Métro in 1996 as Legal Counsel and went on to hold the positions of Director, Business Development, and Vice President, Business Development, Gas Supply, Transport, Operations, Major Projects and Renewable Energies. Mr. Imbleau has a master’s degree in law from the Université de Montréal and is a member of the Barreau du Québec. He has authored several works and articles on international human rights law. Currently, he chairs the board of Écotech Québec and sits on the boards of Forces AVENIR, Lawyers Without Borders Canada, the HEC Chair in Energy Sector Management and UQAM’s Raoul-Dandurand Chair in Strategic and Diplomatic Studies.

Vice President, Sales and Market development

Luc Génier

Mr. Génier is Vice President, Sales and Market Development, at Gaz Métro, since November 2013. Mr. Génier began his career with Shell Canada Products Inc. in 1985. In 1994, he joined Gaz Métro, where he held various management and executive positions with responsibility for sales and marketing teams. In 2005, he was appointed Vice President, Customers. From 2007 to 2012, he was President and Chief Executive Officer of Gaz Métro Plus, where he was responsible for the operations of certain non-regulated subsidiaries. From January 2013 to November 2013, he was Vice President, Sales and Customer Services at Gaz Métro. Mr. Génier is chairman of the board of Gaz Métro Plus and a member of the board of CDH Solutions & Operations, a subsidiary specialized in thermal energy and air conditioning. Mr. Génier sits on the board of the Fondation de l'Office municipal d'habitation de Montréal (OMHM). Mr. Génier holds a bachelor’s degree in management information systems (MIS) from the Université du Québec à Montréal.

Vice President, Operations

Gilles Dubois

A commerce graduate of the Université du Québec à Montréal, Mr. Dubois joined Gaz Métro in 1978. Over the years, he has held various management positions. He has been a member of the management team since 1998. As such, he also held various positions until he was appointed Senior Director, Operations in 2011.  Mr. Dubois was a Director of the “Association québécoise du gaz naturel” as well as Info-Excavation, where he was a member of the Executive Committee. He was appointed Vice President, Operations in July 2013.

Vice President, Employees, Culture and Environmental Oversight

Caroll Carle

Mr. Carle was appointed Vice President, Employees and Culture in January 2012 and was given responsibility for Environmental Oversight in November 2012. He joined Gaz Métro in 2007 as Director, Performance Support and Employee Relations. After studying psychology and social communications at the University of Ottawa, he accrued more than 25 years of experience in various executive positions in human resources and labour relations at large companies operating in Canada—specifically Culinar, Noranda, Nabisco, Nav Canada and Sun Media. Mr. Carle has worked in every province, under both federal and provincial jurisdiction. With more than 200 negotiations to his credit, he has extensive expertise in labour relations and in human resources management in areas such as compensation, succession planning, training, recruitment and performance management.

Vice-president, Risk Management and Internal Audit

Pierre Fortin

Pierre Fortin joined Gaz Métro in September 2015 as Vice-President, Risk Management and Internal Audit. He is responsible for maintaining sound risk management practices. Aside from performing internal audit activities, he develops various tools to support decision making and to quantify integrated risks associated with the company's strategic challenges and business plan. He also helps conduct cost/benefit analyses for major investment projects.

He has over 20 years' experience in the energy sector, including more than 15 years in risk management. He held various positions at Hydro-Québec, including that of Senior Director, Risk Analysis and Management from 2007 to 2015. His key achievements include implementing information systems and setting up specialized teams to manage the risks associated with Hydro-Québec Production's energy trading floor, and those related to the regulated divisions. Mr. Fortin also worked at SOQUIP and at Québec's Ministère des Finances.

Mr. Fortin holds a bachelor's degree in economics and an MBA in finance, both from Université Laval. He is a member of the Ordre des comptables professionnels agréés du Québec.
