Low-income household supplement

Gaz Métro offers supplementary financial assistance to low-income households who are owners of a single-family home, duplex or triplex and to owners of multi-teant buildings with one or more units occupied by low-income households and who are participating in a Gaz Métro energy efficiency program.

This program offers supplementary financial assistance to low-income households who are owners of a single-family home, duplex or triplex and who are participating in a Gaz Métro energy efficiency program. The supplement is determined according to the program in which they are participating.

Grant amount

The supplementary financial assistance can double the amount offered by the program in which they are participating, except for the programmable thermostat and smart thermostat installation programs, where the supplementary assistance is $220.

Participant's Guide

This program offers supplementary financial assistance to owners of multi-tenant buildings with one or more units occupied by low-income households.  The supplement is determined according to the energy efficiency program in which the owner is participating.  The supplementary financial assistance is then shared between the building owner and the low-income households renting a unit in the building where the energy efficiency work is being carried out.

Grant amount

The financial assistance takes into account the percentage of low-income households in the building.  For example, if there are two low-income households in the building's three units, the supplement will be equal to 66% of the basic financial assistance.  The supplement is then shared between the building owner (40% of the supplement) and the low-income households in the building (60% of the supplement).
