Two types of fuel are available, depending on your needs.
Two types of fuel : CNG and LNG
Compressed natural gas (CNG)
Compressed natural gas (CNG) is essentially composed of methane. The natural gas is compressed to 3,600 Psi for storage in the vehicle’s tank. This is the ideal fuel for urban routes and for daily trips back and forth.
Liquified natural gas (LNG)
Liquefied natural gas (LNG) is natural gas in its liquid state, maintained at a temperature of −162 degrees Celsius. It is recommended for transporting heavy loads over a long distances.
Did you know that?
Renewable natural gas (RNG), also called biomethane, can be used to fuel vehicles in the form of compressed (CNG) or liquefied (LNG). Besides extracting value from community waste, biomethane reduces up to 90% of fine particulates (PPM) and of atmospheric pollutant emissions (NOx) compared with diesel. In Québec, it already fuels 28% of natural gas vehicles.
This project is garbage!
The city of Saint-Hyacinthe received support from Gaz Métro to build Québec’s first biomethane plant. In 2017, it will also be the first municipality to heat its buildings and operate its vehicles with renewable natural gas.
